Feeling Thankful…And Hungry!

  • -

Thanksgiving is one of our favorite holidays. It’s that special time of the year we get a break from our hectic schedules and can reconnect with friends and family while devouring our favorite comfort foods.

Although we love traditional favorites, the best Thanksgiving menu includes both classic family recipes and dishes with a modern twist. Feast your eyes on some of these Thanksgiving food and wine pairings featuring Maddalena Wines, San Simeon Wines, Stella Rosa, and Bodega Sangria!

Stuffing & Maddalena Pinot Grigio

A light white wine like Maddalena Pinot Grigio has the perfect flavor profile to elevate the rich and savory flavors in a buttery stuffing, allowing the strong array of spices and herbs to come through. When pairing wine with foods, it’s important to make sure that the flavors complement each other. Stuffing has such a distinct flavor that when selecting a wine to pair with it, we wanted to choose a wine with a delicate flavor, making Maddalena Pinot Grigio the perfect fit.

Classic Mashed Potatoes & Stella Rosa Imperiale Moscato Rose

This pairing had us at mashed potatoes! But to add some finesse to our childhood favorite, we added Stella Rosa Imperiale Moscato Rose and fell in love all over again! Stella Rosa Imperiale Moscato Rose gives some pep to the mashed potatoes’ step with its notes of apricots and wildflower. The fizz in Imperiale Moscato Rose left us wanting more!

Pecan Sweet Potato Casserole & San Simeon Chardonnay

The bright fruit flavors of San Simeon Chardonnay pairs nicely with creamy sweet potato casserole. We made a salted pecan crust for our sweet potato casserole, bringing out even more of the toasty vanilla flavors in the wine.

Truffled Mac and Cheese & Stella Rosa Rosso

A hearty dish like Truffled Mac & Cheese requires a sturdy, distinct wine to pair with. And that perfect wine is Stella Rosa Rosso. It brightens up the nutty truffle flavors and mellows out the zingy cheesy goodness.

Glazed Maple Carrots & Stella Rosa Moscato D’Asti

The most delicious and easiest way we like to eat our veggies is with Stella Rosa Moscato D’Asti! We used fresh carrots and marinated them in maple syrup and cinnamon until they were soft. Moscato D’Asti has notes of honey, pear, and apricot, creating a nectarous flavor combination.

Buttermilk Cornbread & Maddalena Muscat Canelli

The deliciousness of crumbly buttermilk cornbread paired with semi-sweet Maddalena Muscat Canelli is a flavor we are thankful for!  The mild sweetness of the cornbread and wine creates a smooth, delicious, and refreshing fusion of flavors.

Corn Pudding & Bodega Sangria

We couldn’t leave Bodega Sangria out of the Thanksgiving mix. Bodega Sangria cut the hearty creaminess of the corn pudding nicely, leaving room for our palate to taste our favorite sangria that bursts with notes of fresh citrus fruit and cinnamon.

Pumpkin Pie & Stella Rosa Peach

Our Thanksgiving dinner was so delicious, we almost thought of skipping dessert, but we just couldn’t bring ourselves to leave out the classic Thanksgiving indulgence, pumpkin pie! When selecting a wine to pair with it, we began thinking of the robust pumpkin filling on the bed of flakey, buttery crust. Stella Rosa Peach brought out the nutty and slightly sweet flavors of the pumpkin and paired nicely with the creamy whipped topping.

Apple Pie & Stella Rosa Platinum

Okay, we know we already had pumpkin pie, but we figured, what’s Thanksgiving without apple pie!? And Thanksgiving is the time to indulge in our favorite foods, so we added one last pairing to our Thanksgiving menu: Apple Pie and Stella Rosa Platinum! Stella Rosa Platinum has a semi-sweet taste and wraps your palate in luscious notes of green apple and vanilla, the perfect complement for a slice of apple pie.

We have a lot to be thankful for, but most of all, we are thankful for all of you, our supporters! And because we are so thankful, we are giving away online promo codes for our wine! Follow Maddalena Wines, San Simeon Wines, Stella Rosa, and Bodega Sangria on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to be the first to know about November and December’s giveaways and holiday specials!

10 Nights of Stellaween Movies, Tricks & Treats

  • -

Happy Stellaween! In honor of our favorite holiday, we’ve round up 10 of the best scary movies and paired them with Stella Rosa wines, cocktails, and Halloween treats. Read on to stellabrate with us and eat, drink, and be SCARY!

Sleepy Hollow
(1999): Platinum & Caramel Apple

Can’t seem to get into the Halloween spirit? Keep your head up and settle into Sleepy Hollow with a glass of Stella Rosa Platinum! Try pairing Platinum with a caramel apple. Its notes of crisp green apple and creamy vanilla bring out the tangy, sweet, and decadent flavors of this classic fall treat.

Hocus Pocus (1993): Stella’s Witches Brew

There’s no better movie to get us into the spirit of All Hallows’ Eve than Hocus Pocus. We have a Stella Rosa Witches Brew punch recipe inspired by the hilariously charming, yet dangerously evil witches in the flick that they would die for!

1 packet raspberry drink mix
3 quarts chilled club soda
4 bottles chilled Stella Rosa Berry
1 block dry ice

1. In a large punch bowl, stir together raspberry drink mix and club soda until mix is dissolved. Stir in remaining ingredients.
2. Place punch bowl into a larger bowl, and add dry ice to larger bowl.

Psycho (1960): Blueberry Lemonade Cocktail

Don’t let the name trick you-this cocktail is blood red, which is why we paired it with the blood-curdling thriller, Psycho, the perfect classic thriller to watch while you’re sipping on this hair-raisingly delicious cocktail. Find the recipe on our website, here.

Halloween (1978): Stella Rosa Rosso

We found it only fitting to pair our original Stella Rosa flavor, Rosso, with the all-time classic horror flick, Halloween. It’s sure to put you in the spirit for tricks and treats! After all, it’s Halloween; everyone’s entitled to one good scare.

Sweeney Todd (2007): Mrs. Lovett’s Meat Pies & Stella Rosa Red

Flavors of wild strawberry, raspberry, and red plum in Stella Rosa Red stand up to the rich, savory flavors of a devilishly delicious Mrs. Lovett’s Meat Pie. Our favorite recipe is here. Use any meats in the pie you prefer (just like Mrs. Lovett!) and serve with Stella Rosa Red at Halloween dinner while you belt out the lyrics to your favorite Sweeney Todd song.

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993): Cocavino Cocktail

Our Stella Rosa Cocavino is an easy-drinking cocktail that’s scary good. Find it on our YouTube channel, here. Instead of the lime wheel, dress it up with a Halloween straw or even gummy worms hanging on the rim of the glass, The Oogie Boogie Man’s favorite treat!

The Addams Family (1991): Shaken, Never Stirred Cocktail

This elegant cocktail would be Gomez Addams’ favorite! We changed up the olive garnish in addition to using a sword cocktail pick instead of a regular one. Click here for the Shaken, Never Stirred recipe on our website.

Eyeball Garnish Ingredients
Cocktail onions
Pimento olives
Sword cocktail pick

1. Cut pimento olives in half.
2. Place a halved pimento olive in the center of a cocktail onion.
3. Skewer cocktail onion, going through halved pimento olive to secure it in place.

The Shining (1980): Rum 237 Cocktail
Here’s Stella! This movie terrifies us, but it’s one of the best horror films ever made so we had to include it! This cocktail is inspired by Room 237, the haunted hotel room from The Shining. We dare you to watch it with the lights out.

2 oz. rum
3 oz. Stella Rosa Red
7 raspberries

The Ring (2002): Creepy Fingers & Stella Rosa Black

Who wants to put a ring on these creepy fingers? The Ring is hauntingly unforgettable. We get shivers down our spine just thinking about it! Snuggle up with your boo and enjoy a glass of Stella Rosa Black while munching on these Creepy Fingers. Find the recipe here.

Beetlejuice (1988): Ghost With the Most Margarita
If you prefer treats over tricks and or just need a break from the scary Halloween movies, check out Beetlejuice. Our Ghost With the Most cocktail uses Stella Rosa Moscato D’Asti, adding a slight sparkle and perfect amount of sweetness to this ghoulishly delightful margarita.

2 oz. tequila
1 oz. Stella Rosa Moscato D’Asti
1 oz. triple sec
Juice of 1 lime

Picnicking with Stella Babies

  • -

We’re ready for the cooler temps and plan to take full advantage of the season change.  Get outside and enjoy the weather and company of your friends and family and host a fun autumn picnic with Stella Rosa Babies!

Here are a few tips to help you step up your picnic game:

  1. Pack enough Stella Babies to go around. Your friends will not be happy with you if there isn’t enough Stella Rosa to sip on, so make sure you pack the ice bucket and chill enough of these babies!
  2. Snacks, snacks, and more snacks.  If there’s one thing we love it’s wine, but food is a close second, so don’t forget the yummy that will pair well with the delicious flavors of Stella Rosso, Berry, Pink, Moscato, and Prosecco.
  3. Location, Location, Location. Nothing will ruin the moment more than not having the right picnic spot, so choose wisely.  Find a park that isn’t close to the highway so the loud traffic noises don’t ruin your catch up time with your friends.  Make sure to check the weather and choose a day that isn’t too cold, too hot, or forecasted to rain.
  4. Don’t forget the essentials. Corkscrew, blanket, food and Stella Rosa are musts, but a small portable speaker to play your favorite music is always a good idea too.

Follow these simple steps and you’re well on your way to hosting the perfect fall picnic.  Find Stella Rosa at your local retailer or shop online or in-store from San Antonio Winery.

Stella Rosa’s newest and most convenient way to enjoy refreshing ice cold wine on the go is the 8.5 oz. aluminum single serving bottles. The smaller size bottle allows the wine to become colder faster than a full-size bottle and has a screw-off top, making it the perfect wine on the go! It’s perfect for parties and weekend adventures.

Expect The Unexpected With A Different Breed of Red Wine

  • -

At Stella Rosa, we are all about being bold, innovative and standing out from the crowd. This belief started nearly 15 years ago when we introduced our delicious and refreshing semi-sweet sparkling wine to the world, proving that wine can be fun, unique and sexy. Since then, we have introduced a total of 10 amazing flavors to our L’Originale lineup as well as six Imperiale champagne-style wines. The Stella Rosa wine collection continues to grow and has won multiple gold medal awards.

Although Stella Rosa Rosso is known as the classic Stella Rosa flavor, it’s anything but an ordinary red wine. In the past, red wines were only known to be dry and flat, but the Rosso changed all of that. Stella Rosa Rosso is a lightly sparkling and sweet red wine, bursting with flavors of ripe strawberry and red berry. It is best served chilled and goes with savory cheese, spicy Italian cuisine, or decadent chocolate deserts. Stella Rosa Rosso can even be enjoyed all by itself. The Rosso is in a class of its own, standing out against ordinary red wines.

What’s best is that Stella Rosa Rosso is available at stores nationwide or at San Antonio Winery so you can enjoy the unique taste of Rosso sweet red wine today. So instead of getting ordinary red wine, dare to be different and grab a bottle of Stella Rosa Rosso. Let us know how much you love Stella Rosa Rosso by sharing a photo on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter page, #StellaRosa. Visit our new site, for more info.
